PCD expands educational opportunities for account managers
Latest course offers extensive examination of magazine circulation operations
Palm Coast, Fla.- March 16, 2009 – Palm Coast Data, one of the nation’s leading subscription and membership fulfillment service providers, continues to exhibit its commitment to its employees growth and knowledge with its latest offering for account managers in the form of a class—“Magazine Circulation Operations & Overview,” taught by industry veteran James M. Borth, who has previously offered this course at New York University.
Borth, who has more than 30 years experience in publishing and circulation, designed the course to enable account managers at PCD to better understand the role of Circulation within magazine publishing and how it interacts with editorial, advertising and production. The course provides intense examination of the methods of consumer marketing for acquiring and retaining circulation; and a deeper understanding of the operational metrics and financial implications of source development.
“Palm Coast Data strives to impart new knowledge to our account management team,” says John Meneough, president of the company. “We are committed to providing our team with the opportunity to learn the latest trends, enabling them to grow their skills and serve as an impeccable and invaluable resource for our hundreds of clients in the publishing industry.”
Borth’s multiple session course explores the management and operations of key functions within magazine publishing, providing critical examination to the acquisition and retention of subscriptions, ratebase strategies and managing various subscription sources for economic optimization. It also explores the myriad of challenges within circulation and publishing, including risk assessment, budgeting and planning.
Borth lends deep knowledge of the publishing industry to the Palm Coast Data course. His experience includes serving as the general manager for the popular Sporting News Magazine, as well as holding the position of founding executive of Dennis Publishing, the publisher of Maxim, Stuff, Blender and The Week. During his tenure, Maxim and Stuff became explosives brands with readers and circulation in the millions. Prior to joining Dennis Publishing, Borth was the group circulation director for Cahners Publishing Co., a business unit of Reed-Elsevier. He was responsible for the development of circulation for 22 publications. From 1985 to 1991, he was the vice president of client relations at Curtis Circulation Co., the largest national distributor of periodicals in the U.S. Prior to that, Borth held circulation positions at U.S. News & World Report and CBS Magazines.
